A Happy Childhood

Early Life on the Riviera of Poland

"It used to be a beautiful resort area."

"I was born in 1928 in a little resort town Zaleszczyki on the Dniester River, in Poland. Today this is part of the Ukraine.

In that little town lived my [paternal] grandmother, my uncle Rosenbaum and two cousins. My father worked in export and exported at the time. It used to be a beautiful resort area. They called it the Riviera of Poland. They grew grapes in a town which was most unusual. I was a very happy child."
