Goldman Frase at Pearl Harbor

"I realized it was one man."

"While researching my Mother’s biography, I read her letters from WWII, and the name Frase or Goldman kept appearing in the signatures.  I realized it was one man, Goldman Frase. He wrote Christmas Cards to her for ten years while he was in the Navy, and she kept them all her life. He was a career man, and I began to research him. He served on the USS Maryland which was on battleship row in Pearl Harbor. In one of his cards, he described two men 'who are no longer with us.' Those were the only two casualties on the Maryland."

Editor's Note: Goldman Frase served aboard the USS Maryland which was on battleship row during the attack on Pearl Harbor. The ship was lightly damaged by Japanese bombs and returned to duty in 1942.
