"And then they sent me up to electrician’s school, and the most complex thing I had ever done electrically was to screw in a lightbulb, so why in the world they would pick me to go to electrician’s school, I have no idea. At any rate, that was a 16 week school in Detroit, and I had visions of being on a carrier or a destroyer or a battleship or something like that, a capital ship in the Navy. And indeed I was scheduled to go on to another service school in Chicago, which was an aviation electrician school, which meant a carrier."
