First Job
Financing the War Effort
"It will make a blanket for a soldier."
Text
"I found a job in a federal bank, and I worked in the 'plan corps' division, and I don’t know to this day what 'plan corps' means, but when people had a business, and they wanted to do something for the government, they would [calculate] how much money would it take. And my dad tried to explain it said, 'In the carpet industry, we make nine by twelve rugs,' and he said, 'That same machine, if it’s been...if you train it right, why, it will make a blanket for a soldier,' so he said, 'Most of the carpet mills are making blankets, and we are financing the change so that they can do that for us.'"
