Memoril services were held Aug. 5 from Mountain Creek Baptist Church for Wayne Coker, 27, of Bishop, who died Aug. 2 in Athens. Reve. Harry Kinchen officiated.

Born in Walton County, Coker was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dan B. Coker. He was an honor graduate of Monroe Area High School and also graduated from the University of Georgia. He was awarded a fellowship for graduate study and served i the U.S. Army for two years, traveling to Japan and Thailand with the medical corps. Coker was employed by Saye Construction Company of Athens and was a memver of Mountain Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Vicky Jo Bernard Coker of Bishop; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan B. Coker of Monroe; sisters, Mrs. Judy Benowitz of Newport Beach, Calif. and Mrs. Valerie Towler of Athens; grandmotehr Mrs. W. L. Harris; niece Miss Ashli Towler of Athens; and nepher, Simon Towler of Athens. Bernstein Funderl Home, Athens.
