"We went out to the base, and we danced and we danced and we danced, and I wore a brand new dress. It was purple, and it was real pretty and soft but it wrinkled. It was made out of rayon, because that was all that was available, and I was very embarrassed. I kind of wanted to be frontwards with him. And he kept telling me I look just fine, I look just fine, and when it was time to leave, why, he took me to the bus. I knew from looking at him in the face that he was trying to decide whether he should kiss me or not, ’cause we hadn’t had a kiss yet. And so I leaned over and kissed him on the cheek, and he went, 'Ahhh...'"
