Portrait of Negro League baseball team, Jacksonville Red Caps, in uniform. Originally created by a group of Black train porters who wore red caps when on duty at the East Coast Railroad, the Red Caps officially joined the Negro American League in 1938. Aside from one season played in Cleveland, Ohio, the team played from 1938 through 1945 at Durkee Field in Jacksonville, Florida.
