According to the Monroe Cotton Mills website: "The Monroe Cotton Mills is an integral part of the fabric of Monroe, Georgia. Founded and started in 1895 the mill actively operated and manufactured textiles for more than 90 years. A local family bought the shuttered mill from Avondale Mills in 2008 to save it from demolition."
